Hair Lookbook: Cuts and Color in Costa Mesa
Every photo here is real work from our two Costa Mesa salons, no stock images. Save the look you love, bring it to your appointment, and use the "ask for" line to tell your stylist exactly what you want.
Leopard print color
Copper spots painted through jet black lengths, placed underneath and through the front so they flash when hair moves. It takes lightening only where the spots go, so the rest of the hair stays healthy and dark. Expect a longer appointment and a gloss every few weeks to keep the copper bright.
Ask for: Leopard or cheetah print color, copper tone, placed in the lower layers.
Curtain bangs and long layers
Soft curtain bangs that sweep off the face and blend into long, rounded layers. A glossy brunette finish makes the shape look even fuller. This is one of the easiest cuts to wear daily: a round brush or a big velcro roller at the front is all it takes.
Ask for: Curtain bangs, long rounded layers, keep my length, gloss for shine.
Soft dimensional blonde
Blonde with depth instead of one flat shade. Fine highlights and a softer root let it grow out gracefully, so you can stretch time between appointments. A toner keeps it creamy instead of brassy.
Ask for: Dimensional blonde with a soft root, creamy toner, low maintenance grow out.
Rich, glossy red
A deep, glossy red that flatters warm and olive skin and looks expensive in every light. Red fades faster than any other shade, so plan on a gloss between color visits and a color safe shampoo at home.
Ask for: A dimensional red that suits my skin tone, plus a gloss plan.
Platinum textured crop
Hair lifted to an icy platinum, cut short and choppy on top with a clean taper on the sides. Going this light takes a careful lightening process to keep the hair healthy, so book it as a color service, not a quick cut.
Ask for: Platinum lift and tone, textured crop on top, low taper.
Long face framing layers
Length stays, weight goes. Layers start around the cheekbones and fall in curved sections down the back, so hair moves and bounces instead of hanging flat.
Ask for: Long layers with face framing, keep my length, blowout to show the shape.
Slick back taper
Length on top swept back with a matte product, sides tapered tight around the ears and neckline. Sharp at the office, easy on the weekend. A cleanup every three to four weeks keeps the taper crisp.
Ask for: Slick back on top, low taper on the sides, clean neckline.
Layered cut on brunette hair
A long layered cut with curtain bangs that adds movement without losing length. Great for thick hair that tends to feel heavy.
Ask for: Long layers, curtain bangs, remove weight but keep length.
Soft blonde balayage
Hand painted blonde that's brightest at the ends and melts into a natural root. Balayage grows out softly, which makes it one of the lowest maintenance ways to go blonde.
Ask for: Soft balayage, blended root, brighter ends.
All over copper
A single, rich copper from root to end. Copper looks warm and glowy on most skin tones and suits anyone who wants a bold change without bleach heavy maintenance.
Ask for: All over copper color, glossy finish.
Smoky blue wolf cut
A shaggy wolf cut with heavy texture and bangs, finished in a smoky blue. Vivid shades need the hair lightened first and fade over a few weeks, so cool water washes help them last.
Ask for: Wolf cut with bangs, smoky blue vivid color.
Chin length black bob
A sleek, chin length bob in glossy black. Clean lines and a precise perimeter make this one all about the cut. Trims every six to eight weeks keep the line sharp.
Ask for: Chin length bob, blunt perimeter, glossy black.
Dimensional highlights on a bob
Blonde highlights woven through a bob for brightness and movement. Placement around the face does most of the work, so even a partial highlight makes a big difference.
Ask for: Partial or full highlights, brighter around the face.
Burgundy red
A deep burgundy with violet undertones, styled in loose waves. Darker reds hold up a little better than bright ones but still love a gloss between visits.
Ask for: Burgundy or wine red, dimensional, gloss to finish.
Men's textured cut
Short, textured length on top with a low taper that keeps the sides clean but not shaved. Easy to style with a little paste and a few minutes.
Ask for: Textured crop on top, low taper.
Golden blonde layers
Warm, golden blonde with long layers. Golden tones look sunny and healthy and are more forgiving than icy blonde as they fade.
Ask for: Golden blonde, long layers, warm toner.
Vivid copper red with bangs
A bright copper red with bangs and soft waves. High impact color that needs regular glossing to stay this vivid.
Ask for: Bright copper red, bangs, gloss plan.
Blonde face framing
Brightness concentrated around the face, often called a money piece. It's the quickest way to look lighter and fresher without committing to full highlights.
Ask for: Face framing highlights, blended into my natural color.
Pink ombré
A dark root fading into pink through the lengths. Keeping the root natural means grow out is easy, and the pink can be refreshed on its own.
Ask for: Dark to pink ombré, natural root.
Textured shag bob
A short shag with bangs and lots of piecey texture. Works especially well on hair with a natural wave, and it's meant to look a little undone.
Ask for: Shag bob with bangs, lots of texture.
Bright blonde long layers
Bright, high contrast blonde with long layers for movement. Keeping it this bright takes regular toning and bond care to keep hair strong.
Ask for: Bright blonde, long layers, toner and bond treatment.
Hydrafacial
Cleanse, extract and hydrate in one treatment with no downtime. You walk out glowing and go straight back to your day.
Ask for: Signature, Deluxe or Platinum Hydrafacial. See our Hydrafacial guide for details.
Brow lamination
Brows brushed up and set so they look fuller and more shaped for weeks, no microblading needed. Pair it with a tint for definition.
Ask for: Brow lamination with tint.
